Valley PTA

Whether you’re an experienced school volunteer or a first timer, a stay at home parent or working full time, the Valley PTA has a volunteer opportunity that will work for you!

Parents on Campus

Parents on Campus is a volunteer program designed to put more adult eyes and ears on campus to help administrators maintain a positive and peaceful atmosphere. Parent volunteers move around the campus -- breezeways, restrooms, eating areas, fields and other gathering areas – so students see an adult presence. As a volunteer, you’ll let schools staff know about any concerns, help students connect with friends and be a general resource to the school community. Visit the office for more information.

Valley Student Store

The student store, located on the west side of the administrative office, gives students a chance to buy school supplies and shop for other items like stickers, slime, lip gloss and games. As a volunteer, you’ll open and close the store and act as the cashier. It’s open MWF during lunch (10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.)  Sign up for as many or as few shifts as you like.  Email for more information or sign up online.

Library Volunteers

Come volunteer in the Valley Middle School library – it’s a great way to get a feel for campus life while making sure the library is running at its most efficient. You can help check out books, set up for meetings, reshelf books or assist with paperwork and other office tasks.

Take part in this seasonal fundraiser by helping to “decorate” the homes of Valley families and neighbors with Viking décor. For a friendly contribution, the decorations will be removed and reassigned to the next Viking family. Contact Jill Hickerson to join the fun.

8th Grade Dance Committee

It’s a tradition that 7th grade parents help plan and host the 8th grade dance. It’s a fun way to create a memorable experience for our departing 8th graders and give you a feel for what’s in store for your students next year. Email Tina Winn at for more info.

Special Events

Throughout the year, there are many opportunities to volunteer for one-time events and fundraisers. Keep an eye out in the Valley Voice for more information and to sign up.

What does it mean to “join the PTA?”
Being a member of the Valley Middle School PTA just means that you have given a contribution to the organization in support of enhancing the Valley Middle School experience for all students. You can join for as little as $25, but, if you can, we ask that each family consider a contribution of between $100 to $250 for the year.
Do I have to do anything once I am a member?
Nope. We are just happy to have your support. Of course if you are interested in getting more involved in school life, we have a lot of different opportunities, from volunteering at a one-time event to serving on a committee or even the board. Remember, even though your kids feel like they’re pulling away during the middle school years, they actually need your support more than ever. Volunteering on campus is a great way to stay connected with school life.
Can I come to PTA meetings if I am not a member?
Please do! All family members of Valley students are welcome at our meetings. The more connections we can make as parents and teachers, the better for us and our kids.
Are the meetings always in the mornings?
We’ve found over the years that the meetings right after drop off are the most well attended. But, we also know that many parents cannot make this time. We will send a summary of the information shared so you can stay in the loop.

This info was helpful. I'm ready to get more involved.
Great!  Click on the PayPal link  to make a contribution, and keep an eye out for future editions of the Valley Voice to stay connected through the middle school years.

The Valley Voice

Every Family Counts

This year, our PTA and ASB are uniting to ask for a minimum, tax deductible contribution per family of a $100 to $500 to support all of our critical programs throughout the year including: Project Based Learning Initiatives, Technology, Grade Level Events, Teacher Professional Development, Classroom Resources and Fun Social Activities just to name a few! Every penny goes straight to the kids and is in lieu of door-to-door fundraising (no more magazine drives...hurray!). We need every family to contribute their fair share and support our Valley Students! Don't forget to ask about employer matching!
